In 1987 at 708 N. 1st street in the Itasca Building, Jane Oyen opened a small deli with a big idea. Fresh sandwiches, salads, and soups served up to order in a New York style deli - Complete with the attitude.
The idea worked and C.Mcgee's outgrew the Itasca location, moving to 800 N. Washington to a space roughly three times as large. Once again customers came and business grew and life was good. What to do next? Move of course - So we moved in 2007 to The Bassett Creek Building at 901 N. 3rd Street and added a huge kitchen and an even bigger talent in the kitchen, Lisa Kollodge. Trained by experience, culinary school and travel Lisa brings a creative flair as well as a southwest flavor to C.Mcgee's. Once again life was good. What to do next?
Go back to our roots of course - C.Mcgee's opened up a "satellite" deli in the Itasca, to once again serve fabulous sandwiches with an expanded menu which now includes paninis, homemade soups, homemade meals to go, ice cream, espresso you name it.
The attitude of T.D was brought in to brighten up the space as the "next" generation of servers (yes the children are that old). As we grow we add new talents - Josie the fun one, Stefan, the California health food and pastry chef, Richie, the Italian chef, Brent, the calm organizer of delivery craziness, Sharon, the salad whiz, David, the tried and true slicer, prep and sandwich maker, Karen, the sight challenged one who sees everything and of course Jane & Doug Oyen.
Together we form an alliance of dedicated people determined to make your experience with C.Mcgee's a success.
